Celebrate 10 Years of Success

559 Bikes opened in Chepstow in 2002, moving to its permanent home in Manor Way a few years later.

The current owner Sarah Reeve started work at 559 bikes in 2006, before taking over the business in 2008. 559 Bikes has always been a bike shop, however for a few years it branched out into outdoor clothing, before returning to its core business. Today 559 Bikes is a specialist bike shop with a wide range of bikes for all abilities.

As the only bike shop in the Chepstow area Sarah knows how important it is to look after her customers "I have always been passionate about biking and know how important it is to make sure people are riding the right bike."

The shop also has a busy workshop that caters for repair and servicing of all types of bike, which has led to Sarah taking on a new permanent member of staff in October 2011.

559 Bikes are a small family business that focuses on being part of the local community, providing raffle prizes and biking advice to local schools and community groups. The shop also organises twice monthly bike rides around the local area on a Tuesday evening, and has also supported a successful "24 hour" mountain bike race team and plans to support a local downhill racer in 2012.

As part of the 10 year celebration, 559 Bikes is having a special "10th day" on Saturday January 14th, where customers can get 10% off everything in store.

The Chepstow to Tintern Railway Path Needs Your Support

Sustrans has produced proposals to restore the currently disused Wye Valley Railway between Chepstow, Tintern and Brockweir as a traffic-free path for walkers, wheelchair users, people pushing buggies, cyclists and horse riders. Details of the plans can be found here.

The path runs from England to Wales and in order to apply for planning permission, the plans have been submitted to the two relevant planning authorities.

In order to get this amazing project made a reality, we would ask that you show your support by making submissions to the two planning authorities. Details of how to do this can be found here.

Tips on how to ensure that your submission is as effective as possible can be found here. Forest of Dean consultation deadline is 7th Oct 2010, Monmouthshire is yet to be announced. Please ensure that your support is sent as soon as possible.
